A source of pride to generations of Westmounters, the city's library opened its doors on June 20, 1899 and is the community's most-used public facility. The collection has grown from the original 2,000 to 150,000 books and now includes audiovisual and electronic media. In 1995, a major building and restoration project set the library on course for the 21st century, while maintaining the historic Robert Findlay building as the heart of the complex.
