Westmount's Urban Planning Department reviews all applications for building permits, provides information on all related municipal by-laws (building, zoning, fire-safety, etc), issues various permits and licenses and coordinates related planning studies in collaboration with the Planning Advisory Committee.

No, a permit is not required for the following projects:
Interior or exterior painting, repointing masonry, minor replacement of decayed wood or masonry and minor roof repairs when the replacement is identical to the original work.
