The City's contractor, Les Entreprises Canbec Construction Inc., will begin excavating the sidewalks at the intersection of Greene and Sherbrooke, mid-block between Sherbrooke and De Maisonneuve, and at the intersection of Greene and Ste-Catherine.

Council's goals for the next three years

To this end, Council has given itself four key goals to achieve over the next three years. All these goals must adhere to the principles of sustainable development in their implementation.

Ad Hoc Cycling Committee Interim Report

The rise in cycling traffic, particularly on the de Maisonneuve bike path, both inside and outside of the park, has created intense discussion concerning the safety of our infrastructure for cyclists and pedestrians, the comportment of some cyclists in obeying the Highway Code, and the expectations of the local residents. Coupled with this has been an increasing demand to promote cycling as an alternative mode of transport that is healthy for the cyclist, the community, and the environment.

In May of 2010, Westmount City Council created an Ad Hoc Committee to examine some aspects of this matter.

Energy Wise Home Diagnostic Campaign: Now's the time to keep it moving!

After four months of the campaign, we have collected $22 000 to improve access to Centre Greene for people with reduced mobility. Don't forget that for this ENERGY WISE Home Diagnostic promotional campaign, Hydro-Québec will contribute $35 for reports sent online or $30 if the citizen sends it by mail.

You can save energy as well as contribute to our Centre Greene. Please complete the questionnaire, or - if you have already done so - encourage your neighbours and friends to do it. If everyone convinces another Hydro Westmount customer to fill out the questionnaire, we will reach our objective.

The public is invited to discover Westmount’s exceptional parks and unique green spaces with the help of a new guide published by the City. Featuring walking maps and colour photographs, the guide can be purchased for $5 at Westmount City Hall, Westmount Public Library, Victoria Hall and the Public Works office on Bethune Street.

Westmount participates in Communities in Bloom 2010

Westmount joined hundreds of other communities across Canada to participate in the 16th edition of Communities in Bloom this year. The city hosted CiB judges on Monday, August 16th.

Communities in Bloom (CiB) is a Canadian non-profit organization committed to fostering civic pride, environmental responsibility and beautification through community involvement and the challenge of a national program, with focus on the promotion of green spaces in community settings.

Modernization of the CBC/Radio-Canada antenna on Mount Royal

CBC/Radio-Canada will be modernizing its antenna located at the top of Mount Royal for the benefit of practically all Montreal broadcasters.

The work will be carried out between June and August, enabling radio stations to improve their technical parameters and TV stations to install the antennas they need to move into the digital age. The work will also ensure compliance with the new Health Canada and Industry Canada standards relating to Safety Code 6 for the 3 kHz to 300 GHz frequency range.

Inter-City Hockey Coach Application

Westmount Sports & Recreation is searching applicants for the upcoming 2010 – 2011 hockey season at the inter-city hockey level. Applicants should have hockey experience and knowledge of coaching practices and procedures.
