Friday, May 24, 6 a.m.: The precautionary boil water advisory announced Wednesday, May 22, 2013 was lifted as of 10 p.m. Thursday following the report of the analysis of water samples taken from all affected areas. The advisory was in effect for a large part of Montreal Island, including Westmount.

RESIDENTS, BUSINESSES AND INSTITUTIONS MAY USE TAP WATER IMMEDIATELY AND WITHOUT ANY RESTRICTION.

Roof repairs to the Côte-de-Neiges reservoir from May 21 to mid-September

Ville de Montréal will be carrying out repairs to the roof of the Côte-des-Neiges drinking water reservoir from May 21 until mid-September 2013. No impact is expected on local traffic and no interruption of the drinking water supply is anticipated.

Greene Ave. Refurbishing, Phase II : May 21 to July 19, 2013

The final phase of the Greene Avenue refurbishing will begin on May 21^st and is scheduled to be completed by July 19th 2013. The project includes:
       • The construction of new concrete sidewalks with granite curbs
       • New elevated concrete and granite pedestrian crosswalks at the intersection of Greene and de Maisonneuve as well as in front of Westmount Square
       • The replacement of the traffic lights with all-way Stop signs
       • The reparation of the roadway over the water main trench on the west side of the street
       • The reconfiguration of boul. de Maisonneuve at the intersection of Greene Avenue
       • The repaving of the street.

The City’s contractor, les Excavations Super Inc. has been mandated to carry out this project. To ensure safety, parking will not be permitted in the work zone however additional parking will be available on Olivier Avenue. One traffic lane will remain accessible and access to businesses and homes will be maintained at all times.

Additional notices will be sent throughout the course of the work to advise you of the advancement of the project.

April 2013 - Important notice regarding the Emerald Ash Borer

The Natural Resources Department of Canada has confirmed the presence of the Emerald Ash Borer in the Montreal area. In an effort to limit the spread of this beetle, a ban has been put into place regarding the movement of cut branches from all species of trees during the sensitive period of 1 April – 30 September.

As a result the City of Westmount cannot accept any cut branches at the Public Works Yard located on Bethune Street during this ban. Any resident trying to dispose of branches at the yard will be refused. These regulations are a priority and will be strictly enforced.

Public Works will be picking up branches, upon request from residents this spring until June 15th. Branches must be placed on your property behind the sidewalk with the cut end pointing toward the street. Branches must not exceed 13 cm (5 inches) in diameter and the amount is limited to 1.2 m X 1.2m X 2.44 m (4 ft. X 4 ft. X 8 ft.) in volume.
