Renovating part of your house? Before starting, think about what you will do with construction, renovation debris (CRD). Rather than trucking it off to a local dump, you can do your part to help the environment. Did you know that CRD can be collected for recycling and reuse? Choosing a sustainable solution is easier than ever. Together, we can make Westmount greener.
Each of the following can be recycled:
Debris from your renovation project can be used for:
wood, beams, pallets
plywood, wood chips, energy production, etc.
concrete, brick, asphalt, rock, etc.
building roads
uncontaminated soil
horticulture and landfill cover
metal: iron, aluminum, copper, wires, gutters, etc.
new metal
used building materials: toilets, sinks, baths, shingles, etc.
other new construction or renovation materials
glass, plastic, PVC
glass, plastic, etc.
Green disposal of your construction and renovation debris is simple. Your local Ecocentre can handle all your needs. Up to 12 cubic metres will be accepted for free. Two eco-centres are conveniently located nearby, available to all Westmount residents. Remember to bring a proof of residence.
Eco-centre Eadie 1868 Cabot Street Montreal (Sud-Ouest) Tel: 514 872-8359

Setting up your demolition project means making sure containers are ready to handle a variety of debris. Doing so with best practice standards can minimize the impact on the environment (and your neighbours). To achieve these standards, we recommend:
sorting your construction debris in separate, smaller containers by material (i.e. metal, wood, glass, etc.)
attaching a chute to funnel materials into the container
placing a tarp over the top to minimize dust impact
Major Projects: Tell your contractor or architect you want to invest in the environment! Find a CRD recycling company at the RECYC-QUÉBEC Web site. Search for Résidus CRD, or the specific item.
