Services of the City Clerk's Office
Westmount’s City Clerk’s Office assists Council, its Committees, the Director General and other departments in the performance of activities that are subject to laws or regulations. The department also oversees the liaison with the Municipal Court of the City of Montreal.

In this role, the City Clerk is responsible for public notices, calls for tenders, Council minutes and agendas and claims, as well as all municipal by-laws and resolutions. Many of these documents are available through our Web site by clicking the above links.
 
The City Clerk is also in charge of enforcing the Act respecting access to documents held by public bodies and the protection of personal information within the municipal administration. The City Clerk is also assigned many other statutory duties as a public official, including acting as the returning officer for municipal elections and referendums.
 
Municipal Court
Since 2002, the City of Westmount falls under the jurisdiction of the Municipal Court of the City of Montreal, which is responsible for all civil, penal and certain criminal matters on the island and includes, in particular, the processing of traffic and parking related statements of offence issued in the City. Archives
The City Clerk is the custodian of the municipal archives, and is responsible for the management and preservation of all documents that are the property of the City. These archives can be consulted by any member of the public by making an appointment with the Archivist.
