Five new depots in Westmount for used batteries
The City of Westmount is making it easier for residents to recycle their used dry-cell batteries by providing five new drop-off points inside municipal buildings at the following locations: - City Hall, near the west entrance - Westmount Public Library near the main circulation desk - Victoria Hall in the lobby - Hydro Westmount Glen Building - Public Works office, Bethune Street. These new depots complement the existing battery boxes located outdoors at the Public Works Yard and the Stanton Street Fire Station. All dry-cell batteries are accepted, including alkaline, lithium-ion, nickel-metal-hydride, nickel-cadmium, and others, whether single-use or rechargeable. Please note that lead-acid batteries, or those used in cars, motocycles and boats, require a different treatment. These should be dropped off at the bi-annual household hazardous waste collection days in Westmount each spring and autumn, at a Montreal Eco Centre year-round, or at a commercial garage.
